S.E.A.L.’s Mission
To exponentially contact, connect, follow-up, grow, and pro-socially impact youth (school aged 10 to 18) through meaningful "outdoors-driven" science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) experiences through nature in general and aquatics in particular.
S.E.A.L.’s Vision
To encourage “at-promise” youth to become pro-social adult stewards, survivors and supporters of the earth's eco-system - not only for our collective well-being but for the very future of the planet.
S.E.A.L. Project |
It is sad that many youth are labeled "at-risk" because some in society are convinced that youth who come from underprivileged personal, family, economic, or community situations are automatically bad seeds. Albeit, research indicates that any youth can become "at-risk"; meaning that there is a mismatch or gap between a youths circumstances and their basic need to belong, to achieve, be welcomed, be independent, and explore new experiences; across as many domains as possible.

The S.E.A.L. project was initiated in 2005 by The Resource Initiative for Safe Kids (RISKids.org). S.E.A.L. is a youth outreach strategy aimed at connecting at-promise youth contending with at-risk lifestyles to meaningful experiences in nature. RISKids.org also serves as the umbrella sponsor of The S.E.A.L. Cafe' for Kids, Catfish Blues Rolling Cafe', Omer of Manna Pantry, and BSA Venturing Crew 102.
All of our programs interconnect with each other through environmentally themed activities structured to increase at-promise youth resiliency, improve interaction with the adults and peers, and expand the our youth's exposure to new cultural experiences.
We believe that when youth are involved in the S.E.A.L. Project,
they will be inspired to become pro-social stewards, survivors
and supporters of the earth's eco-system - not only for their
collective well-being but for the very future of our planet!!!
